![]() Is there any hack or workaround to get the updated Thunderbolt firmware to Sierra? However, I would much rather avoid the hassle of needing to boot from a 2nd OSX drive, for certain projects and just stick with OSX Sierra. ![]() I did a test, where I installed High Sierra on an external drive, booted from that, connected the TB3 SSD to the dock and it was recognized and did mount! Unfortunately, the only way would be to install a newer operating system (High Sierra or above). I read up about Apple Thunderbolt firmware, and how one may need to update the firmware for certain devices to be recognized. However, once plugged in, the drive will not mount or be recognized in disc utility. ![]() I was hoping to use the external TB3 ssd with my current setup by plugging the drive into my Caldigit TS3 dock. I am currently on a older Thunderbolt iMac running Mac OS X Sierra (10.12), and want to stay on that version as I still rely on certain apps that will not work once updated to OS X High Sierra or above (10.13). I have an external Thunderbolt 3 SSD drive (formatted to HFS Plus) with the thunderbolt 3 cable built into the device.
